DA Mike Schmidt announces grand jury indictment related to an assault of Portland Police officers

PORTLAND, Oregon – Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt today announced that a grand jury indicted Lonie Allen Hart-Ikari, 46, on three charges relating to the assault of two Portland Police Officers earlier this month.

Hart-Ikari is charged with two counts of assaulting a public safety officer and one count of aggravated harassment.

On the morning of February 1, 2023, PPB officers reported to an apartment building at 950 SW 21st Avenue on a report of a resident in the hallway threatening other tenants. Two officers arrived on scene and reported that they were immediately confronted by Hart-Ikari, who was aggressive and agitated. Without provocation, Hart-Ikari punched one officer in the face and proceeded to punch the other officer in the face multiple times while the officers attempted to restrain him.

The two officers, aided by two maintenance staff for the building, were eventually able to hold Hart-Ikari until additional officers arrived and took him into custody. Both officers were transported to the hospital and have since been released.
