QUESTION: What changes occurred this tax season?
ANSWER: Real market values continued to trend upward during 2021 for most residential properties in Wasco County. Commercial properties shifted back upward slightly after a downward adjustment the prior year. Assessed values will calculate upward the annual 3% unless additional changes were made to the property. New construction, remodels, additions, etc., may increase the assessed value more than 3%.
Google’s first investment in The Dalles went online in 2007 and has been exempt for 15 years. The enterprise zone exemption has expired; this property is fully taxable on the tax roll this year. The tax bill for this project is $5,258,841.84 for this year. This amount will be distributed to the taxing districts that levy taxes in the project’s tax code area. Those districts consist of nine general governments and three education districts.
