Looks like even the sea turtles have been influenced by sharks.
NY Post reports a sea turtle tried to drown a Russian tourist in Turkey. The woman hit up the popular Güzeolaba Resort, and was splashing around in the waters when something grabbed her butt and began dragging her beneath the waves.
The 64-year-old woman had no idea what grabbed her at first so she began thrashing around. She was released but was bitten again; she says that bite was way harder than the first.
The woman was eventually rescued by a lifeguard, but her backside is now an impressive shade of purple, red and blue.
Turns out, she was attacked by a loggerhead sea turtle, which can weigh hundreds of pounds when fully grown.
These sea creatures tend to prey on crabs and smaller things, so it’s unknown why it decided to go after an adult woman. Some experts suggest the turtle was being territorial and the woman swam too close to its living space.
Even weirder, this now marks the 11th sea turtle attack in that region in two weeks.
So, in addition to watching out for sharks, jellyfish, crabs and other things that’ll make you say “ouch” — now you have to be wary of sea turtles when you swim in the ocean.
