Miranda Lambert is offering a look inside her trusty Airstream, Wanda The Wanderer.
Miranda has had the 1954 Flying Cloud Airstream with her on the road for the past decade. Designed in part by her longtime friends Amie Sikes and Jolie Sikes-Smith, hosts of Junk Gypsies, Wandacombines her rock and roll vibe with the feeling of home. “Thank God her walls can’t talk because there’s stories from in here,” Miranda quips to People.
Among the singer’s favorite pieces on the bus is an old church pew that’s been repurposed as a bench painted gold with the words “Jesus drank wine.”
Then there’s a pair of maroon velvet chairs with funky yet comfy pillows, including a pink tie-dye one and another with a desert landscape, where the singer likes to lounge after a show — often with a drink in hand. “This seems to be the end of the night area where you lean back with your last night cap and chill and listen to music,” she describes.
Another favorite item is a rounded snakeskin couch that greets you as you walk in the door, adding a “rock and roll vibe” to the free-spirited camper. All the curtains are “handmade and homemade,” in reference to the lyrics in her “Airstream Song.” The Texas native also incorporated “glamping elements” like a retro tin water canteen that can withstand the literal bumps along the road. “It needs to be hearty like we are,” Miranda says with a smile.
Wanda was damaged in a vehicle accident in Oregon in 2017, but they managed to piece her back together, complete with a crown on top. “She kept her crown on like a true road queen,” Miranda jokes. “Wanda’s out forever now.”
