Puget Sound crabbing starts Friday

SEATTLE (AP) — Puget Sound crabbing starts Friday. The Seattle Times reports while some Western Washington crabbing areas such as the South Coast / Pacific Ocean and Columbia River have yearlong crabbing seasons, the season starts July 1 in most Puget Sound areas. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife says each year, sport fishers catch more than 1.5 million pounds of Dungeness crab. Information on which days of the week each area is open is available at st.news/crabbing. People should make sure they have the proper license and the proper catch record card, if crabbing for Dungeness crab in Puget Sound.
