Mavs Luka out…Williams & Pippen Jr. head to NBA

DALLAS (AP) — Luka Doncic (dahn-‘CHICH) is out again for the Dallas Mavericks in Game 2 of their playoff series against the Utah Jazz. Mavs coach Jason Kidd said before Monday night’s game that the young superstar is continuing to make progress in his recovery from a strained left calf. But he’s still not ready to play. Doncic got hurt in the regular-season finale. The Mavericks lost Game 1 against the Jazz without him on Saturday. Game 3 of the best-of-seven series is Thursday night in Utah.

UNDATED (AP) — Duke big man Mark Williams is entering the NBA draft. The 7-foot-1, 242-pound sophomore announced his decision in a social media video Monday evening. Williams is ranked as the No. 18 draft prospect by ESPN. He was a finalist for national defensive player of the year. Williams averaged 11.2 points and 7.4 rebounds, and ranked 12th nationally with 2.82 blocks per game.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) —Vanderbilt guard Scotty Pippen Jr. is entering the NBA draft and signing with an agent. Pippen announced his decision in a social media post. He thanked Nashville and Vanderbilt fans for making him feel at home and shaping him into the person and player he is today. Pippen also thanked coach Jerry Stackhouse, his other coaches and teammates and professors. Pippen was first in the Southeastern Conference in scoring this season, averaging 20.4 points a game.
