The Israeli military says soldiers fired toward the woman’s lower body at a West Bank checkpoint after she ignored calls to stop and warning shots fired into the air. Palestinian officials say the woman, who was in her 40s, later died at a hospital. Meanwhile, Palestinians set fire to a West Bank shrine revered by Jews as Israeli forces continued to operate in the occupied territory.
