Israeli army kills unarmed Palestinian woman in West Bank

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Israeli troops have shot and killed an unarmed Palestinian woman in the occupied West Bank. Sunday’s shooting was the latest in a spate of recent violence during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The Israeli military says soldiers fired toward the woman’s lower body at a West Bank checkpoint after she ignored calls to stop and warning shots fired into the air. Palestinian officials say the woman, who was in her 40s, later died at a hospital. Meanwhile, Palestinians set fire to a West Bank shrine revered by Jews as Israeli forces continued to operate in the occupied territory. The developments come after a spate of deadly attacks by Palestinians in Israel.
