MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) — Law enforcement investigators have released the name of the Sedro-Woolley police officer who shot and killed David Babcock of Concrete in February. The Skagit Valley Herald reports Sedro-Woolley Police Chief Lin Tucker said officer Maxwell Rosser has been on paid administrative leave since the shooting. The Skagit-Island Multiple Agency Response Team also released police body camera footage Thursday in its weekly investigation update. Babcock was shot in the head while driving what Mount Vernon police had believed was a stolen car. He was flown to a Bellingham hospital where he died. Investigators estimate it will be several weeks before the case is forwarded to the Skagit County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
