North Carolina woman fights to keep her ‘FART’ license plate

(NOTE LANGUAGE) Thanks to some party poopers, one North Carolina woman is fighting to keep her license plate, which currently reads “FART.”

While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!Karly Sindy of Asheville said the DMV approved her personalized license plate back in October, so she was surprised when she received a letter in February. Turns out, there were some complaints and the DMV asked her to explain why the plate was so important to her.

Sindy and some friends then decided to make up the group called Friends of Asheville Recreational Trails — or, in acronym form, ‘FART.’

While it’s yet to be seen if the DMV will allow Sindy to keep her FART plate, her completely made-up FART group is now a real thing. The group now has a mailing list, a website, promotional stickers and even t-shirts. The organization’s logo seems harmless enough, but their motto, written in Latin, is a sly wink to their origin.  It reads “Ventum ab culus in caelo” — which, according to online translation, roughly means in English, “Wind from the anus in the sky.”
