Legislature OKs limits on sale of high-capacity magazines

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The Washington state Legislature has approved the prohibition of the manufacture, distribution and sale of firearm magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. The bill passed the Senate last month and cleared the House late Friday night. It now heads to Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee for his signature. The measure would limit magazines for rifles that hold 20 or 30 rounds and for pistols that carry more than 10 rounds. It does not prohibit the possession of such magazines. Violations would be a gross misdemeanor. That crime is penalized by up to 364 days in county jail, a maximum fine of up to $5,000 or both.
