Home At Last Raises $32K in Clear the Cans Event

The Dalles, OR– March 3, 2022Home at Last Humane Society announced today that the Clear the Cans event held February 26 and 27 raised $32,000 in redeemable bottles and cans. That’s 320,000 processed bottles and cans! The Clear the Cans events was the kick-off to an expansion of Home at Last’s bottles and cans redemption drive to raise $250,000 for the shelter in 2022.

Thanks to 20 community volunteers who put in nearly 60 hours of volunteer time, HAL is on its way to achieving that goal. Yet, more work needs to be done to prepare for the expansion of this vital program. Additional volunteer shifts from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. are scheduled every Saturday through the end of April. Saturdays in March: 5, 12, 19, and 26. Saturdays in April: 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30.

Funds raised will be used for animal control, shelter facility improvements, maintaining a highly trained staff, subsidizing a successful spay/neuter program, veterinarian procedures, and its popular rescue and adoption operations. Other ways to help: collect bottles and cans at home in trash bags and drop them at Home at Last shelter, participate in the Blue Bags Give Program, or transfer your personal online Green Bag account to Central Oregon Animal Friends.
