And the mom of the year award goes to…. not this lady.
WFSB reports a 36-year-old Connecticut woman was arraigned Tuesday for leaving her kids home alone. Well, at first glance, that doesn’t sound too bad… until you realize that she locked her kids in the basement and jetted off to Florida to vacation with her boyfriend. She reportedly told them to not go upstairs because she didn’t want anyone to see them.
Police say Kerry Caviasca left her kids, both under the age of 12, unsupervised for two full days so she could enjoy her weekend trip. When her kids reached out because they were hungry, police say she told them, “Just eat candy.”
Caviasca claimed her brother was supposed to be watching the kids, but he denied any involvement. She was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and risk of injury. She was free on $5000 bond and was arraigned Tuesday.
The kicker? This woman was — emphasis on the past tense — a middle school teacher. She also had primary custody of the two kids.
