A Michigan woman was arrested after reporting a fake shooting in hopes cops would respond to the more serious crime instead of arresting her boyfriend during a traffic stop, according to WDIV-TV.
The ploy failed when police responding the the phony call determined there hadn’t been any gunshots. They did, however, learn that the woman who placed the 911 call was a passenger in a vehicle that had been pulled over by police for a traffic violation, authorities said.
The woman, who ultimately copped to the lie, was arrested and charged with falsely summoning a police officer.
