A man thought he pulled a fast one at his local car dealership when he stole a car off of their lot and, days later, attempted to trade it in — at the same lot.
First Coast News reports that Timothy Wolfe stole a vehicle from the Lake City Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Jacksonville, Florida, but was never caught. But that changed a few days later when he attempted to trade in the vehicle, apparently unaware that car dealerships always check the VIN number of any trade-in to verify title. That’s when the dealership discovered the car not only was stolen — it was THEIR stolen car.
Police were called and Wolfe was arrested, and reportedly confessed to his crime. He faces several charges, including grand theft of a motor vehicle, criminal mischief, petit theft and dealing in stolen property.
