Cantwell Statement on DOT Refinancing of Sound Transit Federal Loans

Seattle, WA –  Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Transportation announced that they will refinance five Sound Transit Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) loans, resulting in a savings of over $500 million:

“The refinancing of transportation infrastructure credit programs by the federal government will allow us to save millions of dollars on projects, which is so critical because Sound Transit still faces tremendous COVID-related shortfalls that threaten projects.”
