NY women accused of hiding dead roommate while throwing parties in the house

In a scene reminiscent of the film Weekend At Bernie‘s, two Jamestown, New York women were arrested after allegedly hiding their dead roommate in her bedroom while they held parties in the house.  For six months.

Police discovered the body of 62-year-old Patricia Barter when performing a welfare check on the home, according to ABC affiliate WRIC.  Investigators claim the women moved Barter’s body to the bedroom after she had died from a suspected overdose back in February.

Police said the two stated that they didn’t call police because they were afraid officers would possibly uncover other illegal activity.

Stephanie Hillburn was arrested by Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies on August 11 and charged with concealment of a human corpse. Her roommate, Deborah Eglin, is currently in New York State prison on unrelated charges.  She’s also expected to be charged in the case.
