Ever look at a cat and wonder what it’s thinking? Well, thanks to technology, now you can know — almost.
Animal health technology company Sylvester.ai has developed an app they say can help owners decode how their feline friend may be feeling, the New York Post reports.
The app, called Tably, works by having owners take a picture of the cat. The technology then analyzes the disposition of the animal’s ears, head, whiskers, eyes and more to determine if it’s in distress.
Miche Priest of Sylvester.ai explained, “It helps human cat owners know if their cat is in pain or not. We were able to train a machine using machine learning and a series of images.”
While the app focuses on a cat’s facial features, it’s important that owners also check their pet’s entire body as well, including their tail.
Alice Potter from British animal charity RSPCA shared, “Cats that are worried or scared will hold that tail really tight and tense to them. And then aside from that, there’s also just thinking about their behavior in terms of are they eating, drinking, toileting, sleeping like they usually do?”
