Schumer: Senators will ‘get the job done’ on infrastructure

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate has convened for a rare weekend session. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is encouraging the authors of a bipartisan infrastructure plan to finish writing their bill so that senators can offer amendments. Several senators had predicted the text of the bill would be ready for review late Friday or early Saturday, but it was not yet ready when the Senate opened for business late Saturday morning. Schumer warned senators that he is prepared to keep them in Washington for as long as it takes to vote on a bipartisan infrastructure bill and a budget blueprint setting the stage for an ambitious social spending bill later this year.
