Two Men Arrested on Destructive Devices Charges

On July 6, at approximately 8:39am, Boardman Police Department received information that there were IED’s (Improvised Explosive Device) in a shed on a property on Shoemake Road in the Boardman area, and one of the men suspected of making them was on scene as well. Since the location was outside Boardman City Limits, they contacted the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office.

Morrow County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) and Boardman Police Department (BPD) personnel approached the area and observed a male suspect, throwing three objects into a nearby field. 

The Oregon State Police (OSP) Bomb Squad out of Pendleton responded to the scene and made all 3 devices safe.  They determined that the objects in question were destructive devices and could have inflicted major bodily harm.

MCSO interviewed the subject that was observed in the field.  A second male subject arrived on scene and was also interviewed. MCSO’s Lt. Brian Snyder, Sgt. Scott Carter, Deputy Ivan Dike, Deputy Ken Kippley and Deputy Collin Brill all were on scene or in the area, working the incident.  Cpt. Loren Dieter with BPD assisted.

After investigation, Ahumada, Adrian Lee, 37, from Boardman, OR and

Strickland, Brenden Kane, 19, from Clarkston, WA were both lodged in the Umatilla County Jail and charged with Unlawful Manufacturing of Destructive Device (X3) and Possession of Destructive Device (X3).  Bail is set at $ 60,000. for each suspect.
