French probe police station attack for any extremist ties

RAMBOUILLET, France (AP) — Anti-terrorism investigators are questioning three people detained after a police official was fatally stabbed at a police station outside Paris. The investigators are seeking to establish a motive, any ties to an extremist group and whether he acted alone. French President Emmanuel Macron visited the victim’s family and French media reported that the prime minister convoked a secret crisis meeting. The attack in Rambouillet, near Paris, prompted a stream of people bearing flowers to come to the police station where the attack took place. The 49-year-old National Police employee identified only as Stephanie was killed. Officers killed the Tunisia-born stabbing suspect after Friday’s attack.
