On Thursday, April 22, 2021 at approximately 3:40 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two vehicle crash on Hwy 26 near milepost 73.
Preliminary investigation revealed a Chevy Trailblazer, Operated by Jaron Rust (29) of Terrebonne, was eastbound when it crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a Volkswagen Golf operated by Alec Erickson (25) of Bend.
Passenger in the Trailblazer, Katie Rust (29) of Terrebonne, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Jaron Rust and two juvenile passengers were transported to the hospital.
Erickson was transported to the hospital.
OSP was assisted by the Warm Springs Tribal Police Department, Warm Springs EMS, and ODOT.
Fatigue is believed to be a contributing factor.
