PAC-12 Notes

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tahj Eaddy scored 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting and Southern California routed Stanford 79-42, snapping a two-game skid and keeping the Trojans in the hunt for the Pac-12 title. USC improved to 20-6 overall and 14-5 in the Pac-12. The Trojans notched their 20th win for the fifth time in six seasons under coach Andy Enfield. The Cardinal fell to 14-12 overall and 10-10 in the league with its season-worst fourth straight loss. Spencer Jones and Brandon Angel scored nine points each for Stanford. The Trojans led by 22 points in the first half and 41 points near the end of the game. 

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Chris Duarte scored 23 points, LJ Figueroa added 18 on 8-of-11 shooting, and Oregon rallied to beat UCLA 82-74 in a matchup between two of the top teams in Pac-12. The Ducks (18-5, 13-4), who moved a half-game ahead of UCLA and Southern California in the Pac-12 standings, play at Oregon State in the regular-season finale with a chance to clinch the conference title. Oregon shot a season-high 60.8% (31 of 51) from the field, hit 8 of 17 from 3-point range, and outscored the Bruins 12-6 from the free-throw line. UCLA (17-7, 13-5) has lost back-to-back games for just the second time this season, squandering control of its own destiny in the Pac-12 with one game remaining.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Gianni Hunt had a career-high tying 17 points, Jarod Lucas scored 13 of his 16 in the second half, and Oregon State beat Utah 75-70. Warith Alatishe added 10 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and a career-best four steals for Oregon State. There were 19 lead changes and seven ties, and neither team led by more than six points, before Roman Silva and Ethan Thompson made back-to-back layup and Hunt hit his final 3 in a 58-second span to give OSU a the lead for good at 67-60 with 5:34 to play. Utah twice trimmed its deficit to two points but got no closer. Timmy Allen had 23 points, five rebounds and six assist for Utah.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Freshman Tameiya Sadler had 18 points and a season-high eight assists, Ashley Van Dyke also scored 18 points, and the No. 11 seed Washington women beat Colorado 68-54 in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament. Quay Miller and Alexis Griggsby added 11 points apiece for Washington (7-13). The Huskies made 25 of 46 (54.3%) overall and shot a season-high 55% (11 of 20) from 3-point range. Washington, which won just three games — and at one point lost eight straight — in conference play this season, plays No. 9 and third-seeded UCLA in the quarterfinals. Frida Formann and Mya Hollingshed scored 16 points apiece for Colorado (10-10). 

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Stanford’s Anna Wilson is a lock-down defender whose energy and work ethic during the preseason led to her earning the guard spot in the starting lineup. She has been named Pac-12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year after a season during which she has often drawn the assignment of defending the opponent’s top player. Wilson and No. 4 Stanford won the Pac-12 regular-season championship for the program’s first title since 2014 and the Cardinal are the top seed for the conference tournament. The Cardinal are riding an 11-game winning streak as they prepare to play their opener in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — McKinley Wright IV expects to be overcome by emotion before playing his final home game when No. 24 Colorado faces Arizona State on Thursday. The do-it-all senior point guard will depart as the school’s all-time leader in assists and recently became the first men’s Pac-12 player to eclipse 1,700 points, 600 rebounds and 600 assists for a career. His sights are firmly focused on helping the Buffaloes make the NCAA Tournament and go on a deep run.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Jordyn Jenkins scored a career-high 16 points, Endyia Rogers added 15 points and dished off a career-high 11 assists and eighth-seeded USC defeated ninth-seeded Arizona State 71-65 in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament. The Trojans earned a meeting with top-seeded and fourth-ranked Stanford in a quarterfinal game on Thursday. Jordan Sanders scored 14 points for USC, with the three top scorers combining to make 20 of 25 shots to help the Trojans shoot 65% (30 of 46). They were 7 of 14 from 3-point range. Taya Hanson scored 15 points on 5-of-14 3-point shooting for the Sun Devils, who shot just 35% (22 of 63). 

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Taylor Jones had 17 points and 13 rebounds and Oregon State moved on in the Pac-12 tournament with a 71-63 opening-round victory over California on Wednesday. Talia von Oelhoffen had a career-high 20 points for fifth-seeded Oregon State, which has won four straight. The Beavers face fourth-seeded and 19th-ranked Oregon in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Leilani McIntosh had 14 points to lead No. 12 seed Cal, which trailed by as many as 15 points but threatened late.
