WASHINGTON (AP) — After surviving nearly a year of darts and undermining comments from former President Donald Trump, Dr. Anthony Fauci is back. He now speaks with the authority of the White House again. The doctor called it “liberating” Thursday to be backed by a science-friendly administration that has embraced his recommendations to battle COVID-19. And on Friday, Fauci went further. He said a lack of candor and facts about the coronavirus pandemic over the last year under Trump “very likely” cost lives because it delayed getting sound scientific advice out to the country. He told CNN, “When you start talking about things that make no sense medically and no sense scientifically, that clearly is not helpful.”
