New Joint Search & Rescue Vehicle Thanks To Generous Donation

Hood River, Ore. – A new Search & Rescue (SAR) command vehicle is now available to the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office for SAR operations on Mt. Hood, thanks in large part to a generous donation from Country Financial.

A joint project between the Hood River and Clackamas County Sheriff’s Offices and the U.S. Forest Service has led to the acquisition of a new Search & Rescue command vehicle from Insitu. The new command vehicle will be centrally located for easy access by both counties and will help with SAR operations on Mt. Hood. The donation from Hood River’s Keith Howell and Country Financial was used to outfit the command vehicle with communications and computer equipment.

With Mt. Hood being located on the border between Hood River and Clackamas counties, the often difficult and lengthy SAR operations on the mountain are commonly handled jointly with resources from both counties. The addition of this joint command vehicle will improve the communication capabilities of searchers and coordinators during SAR operations on Mt. Hood, helping to achieve successful outcomes. The Hood River County Sheriff’s Office is grateful to Keith Howell and Country Financial for the generous donation.
