Stevenson-Carson School District gives special Holiday Break meal boxes to families in need thanks to support from community organizations

Monday, December 21, 2020-Stevenson, WA-Stevenson-Carson School District distributed special holiday meal boxes to help feed families in need throughout the community on the evening of Thursday, December 17.

“We received generous donations from individuals and community partners to put together special holiday boxes for those in our community who need assistance,” said Superintendent Ingrid Colvard. “As a district, we would like to express our extreme gratitude for the support of our amazing communities coming together to help those who need it most.”

Some of the organizations who made donations include the Stevenson-Carson Education Foundation, the Community Foundation of Southwest Washington, the City of Stevenson, and InvestEd. The funds provided by these organizations funded in full or in part a variety of needs including school supplies, technology equipment, the district’s internet cafes, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), internet accessibility, and food box supplies for the district’s holiday meal boxes.

In order to distribute the boxes, the district sent out a message to all families before Thanksgiving to ensure there would be enough holiday boxes for all who needed them. “Our goal was to provide for every family who needed assistance and not turn anyone away,” said Colvard. “There are always those in need at this time of year, however, 2020 is unlike any other and we want to do our part to help as many as possible.”
