France’s Macron rides out virus, fever at Versailles retreat

PARIS (AP) — Critics are calling out French President Emmanuel Macron for slip-ups in his virus-prevention behavior as he rides out a case of COVID-19 in a presidential retreat at Versailles. They said actions such as a close-quarters handshake and repeated big-group meals over the past week set a bad example. Slovak Prime Minister Igor Matovic tested positive for the virus Friday after spending time with Macron at a European Union summit. Some other European  leaders present at the summit reported testing negative, while some were not getting tested and others haven’t yet announced results. Macron is suffering from fever, cough and fatigue, officials with the presidency said Friday. They wouldn’t provide details of his treatment.
