19th COVID-19 Death in Wasco County

Sadly, a second resident of the Oregon Veterans’ Home has died of COVID-19, marking the 19th COVID death in Wasco County.

The resident tested positive for COVID on Nov. 17 and died on Nov. 23. We extend our deepest sympathy to the families and friends of all who have lost a loved one.

An outbreak was first reported at the Oregon Veterans’ Home on Oct. 25, and 24 cases are connected to it, including six residents, and 18 staff and family members of staff.

As we head into the holiday season, with rapidly rising case counts in Oregon, including 112 cases in Wasco County in the last two weeks, please take all precautions to help slow the spread of the virus.

Wear a mask, stay physically distant from those not in your household, frequently wash your hands, and avoid the social gatherings that have been a driver of COVID’s spread. Oregon Gov. Kate Brown has issued restrictions limiting social gatherings to no more than six people from no more than two households.
