LOS ANGELES (AP) — It began as a class project, a documentary about an unsolved murder that ripped a family apart and shocked a small affluent town in southeastern Connecticut. The person shooting the documentary was the victim’s son, who was 18 years old when his mother’s stabbed and bludgeoned body was found on the side of her home. A college professor made Madison Hamburg promise to finish the project, and now “Murder on Middle Beach” is set to premiere Sunday on HBO Max. The docuseries prompted Hamburg to ask close relatives a difficult question: Did they kill his mother?
