National Weather Service turns heatwave into delicious experiment

When life gives you a scorching heatwave, make cookies on your car dashboard!

The clever folks at the National Weather Service in Texas turned extreme temperatures into a baking experiment. With the outside blazing at 105 degrees F and the inside sizzling at a whopping 190 degrees, they had their very own car oven. So they decided to bake some cookies.

In a Facebook post, the Weather Service gave an update on their experiment sharing a photo of the baking cookies that were on a baking sheet on the car’s dashboard.

“After about four and a half hours and nearly 190°F dashboard heat… we have mostly baked cookies,” they wrote. “Even though ours weren’t golden brown cooked, this heat is still INCREDIBLY dangerous to anyone left in a hot car. LOOK before you LOCK!”
