Report: Lawmaker ‘engaged in abusive and bullying conduct’

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — A workplace conduct investigation released this week found that Rep. Melanie Morgan “engaged in abusive and bullying conduct” against a policy analyst for the Social Equity in Cannabis Task Force on which the Democratic lawmaker served as chair. The report also says she took retaliatory actions against the employee. The 21-page report by an outside law firm was sent to the chief clerk of the House last month. The conduct alleged included hostile and disrespectful interactions at meetings witnessed by others, and alleged retaliatory complaints filed by Morgan against the employee. Morgan’s attorney has appealed the report, saying it was based on hearsay.
