Got what it takes to be a viral video star? New survey says you think you do

A new survey says when it comes to viral video fame, many of us think we’re just a few clicks away. That’s the takeaway from a new survey that shows 41% of American adults think they have what it takes to get into the content creation game.

The poll of 2,000 Americans that was commissioned by YouTube Shorts shows that they might not be blowing smoke, either: three in 10 polled say they’ve already gone viral.

In fact, nearly half of those polled are confident they could make a good living creating online content. So if you see your mom juggling a light ring and putting up a green screen, don’t be surprised.

Thirty-nine percent of respondents say they want to start being online creators for the money, while just as many want to share their passions with the world.

Thirty-seven percent say they’d like to trade their lives for online glory to be their own boss. In fact, more than half say they think creating content online should be treated as a real job.

While 58% say making videos and other sharable content is just as important as other jobs, nearly as many, 56%, say it should be considered just a hobby.
