Finally? Hard seltzer made from old hot dog water

There’s nothing like popping open a cold one and having a hot dog on a summer day — but a Texas-based company called the Martin House Brewing Company has decided to combine the two.

On July 16, as part of Fort Worth’s Glizzy Fest, the company will officially unveil Awesome Sauce Hard Seltzers, a 5.2% alcohol hard seltzer made with the leftover water from more than 50 pounds of boiled weenies.

Of all places, Food & Wine looked into the beverage, noting the company has already churned out beers made with other unlikely ingredients, like salsa verde and mustard pickle. Apparently, the new stuff tastes like you’d expect: “a boozy hotdog.”

The festival will celebrate all things hot dogs, according to the event’s Facebook page, and includes a John Cougar Mellencamp cover band — likely the “suckin’ on chili dogs” line from “Jack and Diane” secured them that gig.

If you’re looking for some of your own — dunno why — the spiked seltzer production is limited to just 420 cans.
