Katie Horner, a meteorologist for ABC affiliate KMBC, pulled double duty on Thursday, avoiding the chilly Kansas City, Missouri temps by taking refuge in a local bakery that was serving drive-through patrons.
Fellow KMBC meteorologist Nick Bender was in the middle of his 7 a.m. forecast. Expecting to get an update on road conditions, Bender was met with this: “Hold on. Welcome to McLain’s. May I take your order?” Horner said with a straight face, live from the McLain’s Bakery drive-thru.
“Are you at McLain’s?” Bender said incredulously, perhaps a little jealous not to be delivering the nine-day forecast from one of his favorite KC coffee and breakfast spots.
Bender placed his order for an almond cheese pocket, though it’s not known whether Horner delivered his order when she got back to the studio.
