No. 1 Gonzaga wins 10th straight WCC regular-season title
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Drew Timme had 23 points and nine rebounds, Andrew Nembhard added 21 points, and top-ranked Gonzaga beat Santa Clara 81-69 to win its 10th straight West Coast Conference regular-season title. Rasir Bolton added 18 points for Gonzaga. The Zags now won 16 straight overall and 67 straight at home. They’re also the current front-runner for top seed in the NCAA Tournament. PJ Pipes scored 27 points and Jalen Williams had 15 for Santa Clara. The team is third in the WCC and fighting for its first postseason tournament berth since 2013.
Clark, Singleton lead No. 13 UCLA past Washington 76-50
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jaylen Clark and David Singleton posted career highs in scoring as No. 13 UCLA shook off a slow start to defeat Washington 76-50. Clark, starting for the second consecutive game, led the Bruins with 25 points and Singleton came off the bench to score 20, including six 3-pointers. The Bruins won their second straight by at least 20 points, but did it without two starters. Johnny Juzang missed the game due to a sore hip, while Cody Riley was unavailable. Riley missed eight games earlier this season due to a sprained left MCL. Terrell Brown Jr., the Pac-12′s leading scorer, led the Huskies with 13 points and Jamal Bey had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
No. 3 Arizona battles for hard-fought 84-81 win over Oregon
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Bennedict Mathurin scored 24 points, Kerr Kriisa hit a crucial 3-pointer with about 1:30 remaining and No. 3 Arizona managed to beat Oregon 84-81 on Saturday night. It was an entertaining, high-scoring game that featured 16 lead changes in front of a sold-out crowd at the McKale Center. Kriisa’s long 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down and 1:26 remaining in the game pushed Arizona ahead 79-76. The Wildcats wouldn’t trail again, hitting enough of their free throws to stave off Oregon’s final charge. The Ducks had a chance to tie on their final possession but Will Richardson was called for traveling as time expired.
Jackson sparks Arizona State to 73-53 romp over Oregon State
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Marreon Jackson came off the bench to score 15 points and Arizona State breezed to a 73-53 victory over Oregon State. Jackson sank 5 of 9 shots with three 3-pointers for the Sun Devils (10-15, 6-9 Pac-12 Conference). Jay Heath hit a 3-pointer and a layup in the first 3:08 as Arizona State jumped out to a 10-2 lead. Horne’s 3-pointer with 6 seconds left gave the Sun Devils a 42-29 lead at halftime. Arizona State upped its lead to 20 on a Jalen Graham layup with 13:11 remaining in the game. Jackson’s 3-pointer with 5:30 left gave the Sun Devils their biggest lead, 69-43. Glenn Taylor Jr. finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Beavers (3-22, 1-14), who have lost 13 straight.
