Survey shows 75% of people would rather have nothing to do for the weekend

Got anything to do this weekend? If not, you’re probably happier, at least according to a new survey that shows three in four people prefer having zero plans for the weekend.

And for those with something to do, 71% would prefer it gets canceled.

Those are just some of the results of a poll of 2,000 Americans that was commissioned on behalf of the Idaho Wine Commission.

Sixty-nine percent of those polled, who were 21 and over, say they prefer staying home on weeknights — but nearly 40 percent say they want to stay home on weekends, too.

Two in five of the the respondents say they started to become homebodies in their 30s. Of those who do like to socialize, 80% choose to hang out with their friends at home, rather than out and about somewhere. In fact, 72% see this catch-up time with friends at home their therapy.

For those who’d prefer to keep things to themselves during the week, 53% like binge-watching TV, 32% would rather to read a book than go out, and 30% would prefer a nice walk.

Thirty-nine percent say a perfect weekend, on the other hand, includes taking a walk; 36% would rather weekend with a book; and 35% prefer sleeping in to going out on the weekend.
