Wasco County Commissioners met this morning by Zoom. Among other items, they received an abbreviated update on the pandemic from North Central Public Health District Director Shellie Campbell, as Dr. Mimi McDonell had a conflict. Campbell said there would be a vaccination clinic tomorrow at the Readiness Center, and noted FEMA was sending a vaccination trailer to The Dalles later this month.
“The FEMA trailer will be here a full week and having all walk-in vaccinations, and they will doing all the vaccines from ages 5 and up. We open for business on February 24, which is a holiday, so actually a great day to get vaccinated as people are off. We don’t have a confirmed location yet. We’re working on that. When they do find a location it will be from 11 to 6 every day until the 28th.”
She also reminded people of the current pandemic guidelines.
“Of course, get your boosters. We really always recommend that. The masked mandate for indoor mask wearing is still in effect. We know that mask wearing mitigates transmission of the disease, so we fully ask and support and advocate for people to continue to wear their masks.”
She added that they hope to have the FEMA trailer location nailed down in the next day or two, and will get that information to the media.
