If you’re going to make your own vehicle inspection sticker… don’t do it by hand

The Mechanicville Police Department in New York was forced to remind dimwitted motorists that making your own inspection sticker is highly illegal.

The department’s official Facebook page shared a photo of the poor, hand-drawn attempt and compared it to a legitimate sticker. “This is a picture of an actual ‘inspection sticker’ recovered today during a traffic stop. Can you spot the fake? We thought so,” they wrote.

Upon closer inspection, the hand-drawn sticker is made on see-though white printer paper and has “New York State safety/emissions inspection certificate” scrawled in black ink and all capital letters.  The perp even tried to replicate the state’s seal, but their artistic skills weren’t that advanced.

Police encouraged motorists to stay on top of their vehicle’s maintenance and added, “Yearly inspections are required by law.”  Meaning, if you fall behind, you won’t be able to craft your way out of this one and will have to endure the judgmental stares of your local DMV workers.

The driver of the so-called inspection sticker has not been identified.
