A Wyoming man allegedly tried getting out of a DUI charge by claiming his 4-year-old son was the one behind the wheel.
Sheriff’s Lt. Paul Pownall Campbell tells the Gillette News Record that deputies pulled the 39-year-old man over Saturday after responding to a report he’d been fighting with a woman.
The suspect had driven off by the time deputies arrived, but they caught up with him and his two sons, ages four and 15, in his pickup truck.
The man claimed the four-year-old was sitting on his lap and was the one driving, according to sheriff’s officials.
He allegedly refused field sobriety and breath tests. Deputies arrested him for driving under the influence, driving without an interlock device and violating probation.
