A drunken teenager picked the worst possible home to break into… an Airbnb that was being rented by the police.
WISN reports that three sheriff’s deputies were spending the night at a rental unit when they heard a ton of racket coming from the upstairs. Turns out, a 19-year-old broke into the home using the back door, stomped upstairs and passed out in one of the beds.
When the intruder woke up, he was sporting a nice new pair of silver bracelets. The officials add the teen had no memory of how he got into the house, where he was and what he was even doing before passing out on the bed.
Adding insult to injury, the officers also made a series of TikTok videos about the bizarre incident. One deputy narrated, “This silly guy found the one Airbnb in all of downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, loaded with cops. He woke up in handcuffs.”
Deputy Charles Pesola says the kid was “lucky” he picked their Airbnb to break into, adding things could have been different had he not picked a home occupied by people who “actually know how to handle that.”
As for why they decided to turn to social media to record the incident, Pesola said, “Cops have a hard time right now, and when they can see we’re still having fun and still real people and we’re good, it’s a good thing.”
The officers add the intruder wasn’t charged or cited.
Deputy Matt Vander Ark explained, “He made a mistake. It’s OK. We’re gonna get over it, and at the end of the day, we can smile about it.”
