UN: Ethiopia’s victory claim doesn’t mean war is finished

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — The United Nations refugee chief says Ethiopia’s announcement that it has completed its military offensive in its defiant Tigray region “does not mean the conflict is finished.” Filippo Grandi adds that his team has raised the fate of nearly 100,000 Eritrean refugees in sealed-off Tigray “with great urgency” amid reports that some have been abducted. He says such treatment in camps near the Eritrean border “would be major violations of international norms.” Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Cross says a major hospital in the Tigray capital is lacking body bags and some 80% of its patients have trauma injuries.
