Hiker found dead in North Cascades identified

DARRINGTON, Wash. (AP) — The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the name of the person who died while hiking Vesper Peak in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. The Daily Herald reports 29-year-old Adam L. Johnson, of Anacortes, died Saturday. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team found Johnson’s body Sunday. An autopsy showed he died of drowning and blunt-force injuries. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office says Johnson set out for a day hike and was supposed to return by 8 p.m. Saturday. When he didn’t show up or contact his girlfriend, she reported him as missing.
