Notes From Last Weeks Goldendale City Council

Fire Chief Noah Halm was not present, but Mayor Canon read a report that two of the city’s engines had been helping out with fires on the Yakama Reservation, for which the city has been earning some money.

City Administrator Larry Bellamy announced that at the next Council meeting, he expected to have a resolution for a contract to design and build a fuel facility at the Goldendale Airport, something that’s been in the planning for several years.

He also told councilors that WAGAP had received a $100,000 grant for help with expenses on planning for a child care center in Goldendale. That was welcome news, as Councilor Shannon Middleton pointed out there is a huge demand for child care both in Goldendale and all of Klickitat County. Mayor Canon added that he knew of at least one person who had expressed interest in getting involved.
