Herrera Beutler: Sea lion removal to move forward!

Dear friend,

I have great news in the fight to protect our endangered salmon and steelhead runs in the Columbia River.

You may remember in 2018, the president signed into law my bill to allow the lethal removal of sea lions in the Columbia River that are decimating our native fish runs.

Last Friday marked another important milestone in this effort; wildlife agencies and tribes were given the go-ahead by the federal government that they can carry out sea lion removals in an effort to preserve our salmon and steelhead.

This is something fishermen, conservationists, tribes, and local leaders have been pushing for years — and now all the work has been translated into action. I’m so grateful to all of those residents who helped get my sea lion bill across the finish line.¬†

My hope is that you’ll be able to go salmon fishing right here on the Columbia River with your children and your grandchildren for years to come.

As always, it’s an honor to serve you in Congress. Please let me know how I can assist you.
Sincerely,
Jaime Herrera Beutler Signature
