Dear Goldendale School District Families,
I hope you have had an enjoyable summer! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our fall return to education looks a little different than in the past, just like most things these days.
The health and safety of our students and staff is always our top priority, in addition to providing a quality education. With those priorities in mind, I am writing to share an update on our plans to deliver education this fall.
The Goldendale School District considered several options and grappled with the impact of each decision. We will implement a phased approach to the fall re-start of school.
This means that to start the fall, students will engage in all-remote/distance learning. This distance/remote learning option will not be what you experienced in the spring of 2020. We learned a lot from your feedback and are adjusting how we deliver learning. More regarding these specifics will be coming in the next weeks.
On August 6, the District received notification from the Klickitat Co. Health Department stating their recommendation for GSD to start the school year with distance learning. This came on the heels of the decision tree put out by Washington Department of Health on August 5, for in-person learning. Both of these documents are enclosed. The district’s phased approach aligns well with this guidance. We will use this decision process to advance through our phased model.
As we all know, with the progression of the virus, plans and information may change. It is our pledge to keep you informed as we move forward together. Thank you for your patience as we navigate this unprecedented time together.
