|Advocating for Southwest Washington’s Interests|
| Dear friend,|
Throughout the end of July, the U.S. House approved a spending blueprint for nearly every federal program for the coming year. As a senior member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee that sets these funding levels, I worked hard to protect Southwest Washington priorities. Here are some of the highlights that will benefit our citizens:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Public Health and Hospital Preparedness received a $25 million increase.
Alzheimer’s research was boosted by $35 million.
$2 million increase for Poison Control Centers.
We’re investing $23 million more in fish hatcheries to improve declining fish runs.
Maternal and child health efforts will see a $35 million increase.
$990 million is going to increase rural broadband in underserved communities.
The Early Earthquake Warning System is getting a $25.7 million increase.
$2.7 billion will help develop affordable housing.
$100 million is going to improve child care availability and quality across the country.
