The Dalles City Council met last night for mostly housekeeping business. Councilors did hear a report from Columbia Gorge Community College on construction plans for the new campus skill center and student housing. CGCC President Dr. Marta Cronin talked about two of the biggest classes planned for the skill center, including one focused on construction:
Groundbreaking is scheduled to take place in mid-July, with completion expected next year.
Council members also voted on a resolution opposing proposed changes in the National Scenic Area Management Plan which would effectively prevent any urban area in the gorge from getting any bigger. Councilor Darcy Long-Curtiss summed it up this way:
Wasco County will vote on a similar resolution tomorrow.
