KLICKITAT COUNTY RESIDENTS- The Department of Emergency Management in Unified Command with The Public Health Department wants to THANK YOU for doing your part in helping us become eligible to apply for Phase 2 reopening. This is a great step forward into our New Reality. However in order to keep pushing forward we need to realize additional precautions will be a large part of our lives until we can effectively manage this new disease.
In Phase 2 you will see more businesses and activities open up. You will be able to dine inside a restaurant, go workout at your favorite gym or get a haircut and some of you may be asked to return to work. On the other hand many businesses may not be ready to open just yet. It will not look the same as before due to the health and hygiene precautions still needed. Moving forward in this new reality means accepting you may be asked to wear a face covering or that you may be turned away from public gatherings to maintain the need for physical distancing. We are being asked to participate and take responsibility for something much larger than ourselves. We must protect ourselves and those around us. Wearing a face covering is a simple way of protecting all community members. In addition, remaining 6 feet from non-household members helps to reduce the spread of disease. We must also do our part in adhering to the policies that each facility has chosen or been instructed to put in place and understand
they are taking responsibility for the role they play in maintaining our community’s health.
Precautions for protecting yourself, your loved ones and all others include:
- Engage in physical distancing of at least six feet (non-household members)
- Wear face coverings in public places
- Wash hands frequently with soap and water
- Cover coughs and sneezes
- Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
- Disinfect surfaces and objects regularly
- Avoid crowded locations, be flexible, go back when the crowd disperses
- Stay home if sick
- Avoid others who are sick
Part of taking responsibility is knowing where to find reliable facts, information, and resources. https://coronavirus.wa.gov/ is a great site for finding reliable information.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in keeping all of Klickitat County healthy.
