Police shoot, kill man in Seattle

SEATTLE (AP) — Authorities say Seattle police officers shot and killed a man who police said was carrying a knife or knives near the waterfront in the Lower Queen Anne area. Seattle Police Assistant Chief Deanna Nollette told The Seattle Times that the man had been threatening other people. Nollette says two officers responding at about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday chased the man down Elliott Avenue West and “were forced to use deadly force” after initially trying to use less-lethal measures. Authorities say the man died as he was being put in an ambulance. Nollette says two weapons were recovered at the scene.
