Police: Alleged drunk driver hits, seriously injures biker

SEATTLE (The Seattle Times) — Police in Washington state have arrested a woman on suspicion of driving under the influence after authorities say she hit a bicyclist with her car in Tacoma. The Seattle Times reported that Tacoma Police spokesperson Wendy Haddow says the department believes the 47-year-old woman was speeding when she hit the 51-year-old biker. Police say the woman swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting a car that stopped at a crosswalk in front of her. Instead, she hit a man riding his bike. He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police investigated the scene. No further information was immediately available.
