Washington’s Governor Jay Inslee announced today May 1st, 2020 that on Monday May 4th he will be signing an order extending the Stay Home Order through May 31st, 2020. The Governor also laid out his plan to reopen the state in a phased manner.
The phased reopening will consist of four (4) phases. There is no set amount of time between each phase and instead will be based on certain criteria being met. Criteria used to move to the next phase will include: disease status, risk to vulnerable populations, testing capacity and availability, ability to investigate and isolate those with the disease, and our healthcare readiness including the accessibility of personal protective equipment (PPE).
In order for businesses to reopen within their appropriate phase they will have requirements that must be met including safety protocols and a reduction in the amount of people allowed in the facility.
Guidelines are still being developed and more information will be given as soon as it is available. Every phase will still include physical distancing and health precautions such as wearing PPE.
Phase 1 which is currently in effect has recently added some outdoor recreation opportunities, existing construction businesses and non-emergency surgeries. In the coming weeks phase 1 will also allow the opening of businesses including automobile sales, car washes, retail stores with curbside pickup only, landscaping, and spiritual services with drive in options only. These will not all open right away as the guidelines are still being addressed and will need to be implemented before they can open.
Please keep in mind that the extended stay at home order will continue the ban on gatherings. As the businesses and opportunities begin to open we ask that all of Klickitat County residents maintain their physical distance, stay home as much as possible, stay home if you are sick and wear a mask when in public.
